The 3rd stop on this virtual tour is an interview conducted in Italy. CO-LABORY, the coordinator in the ESE project, interviewed Filippo Tito, a tourist and nature guide of the Apulia Region, who made his passion a job.
Filippo Tito is specialized in Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Management, and thanks to the “CICLOMURGIA” project, has managed to establish himself as a social entrepreneur.
“CICLOMURGIA” project, in fact, aims to enhance the cultural and naturalistic heritage of the Alta Murgia, a subregion of Apulia in the south of Italy, through realizing bike routes within the territory of the Alta Murgia National Park, and the creation of a network of touristic services for bike travellers.
Filippo and his staff realized bike routes in the territory with the intention of promoting the area and respecting the environment. The activities that Ciclomurgia carries out are aimed at tourists, but inevitably involve the local people, because sustainable tourism also makes the local community the protagonist.
Filippo defined this way of tourism as EMOTIONAL and SUSTAINABLE.
To the question “What is your contribution to society?” He replied, “promoting the real Puglia in every season, not only the one linked to the coast”. “My job is to promote and encourage sustainable tourism, preserve nature, working with it with a small number of people so as not to spoil nature”.
